EHD & Organization

External Hard Drives. If you don't own one, get one. I just spent the last day going thru all my Digi downloads and loading them on to my EHD. I have been very lucky with computer and thought I was really pushing my luck by not having a back up for all my stuff that I buy. So, I bit the bullet and sat yesterday and did that. I found stuff that I didn't know I had! LOL Which is a good thing I guess. They are all freebies that I have found one place or another.

Now, I need to pick your brains. I was on a chat last night with Dragon Flaire Studios. They were talking about storage using the ACDSee program. Well, it was very informative. So it got me thinking. As did my hero, about sorting and storage. I am so freaked out about starting this project but it has to be done. I waste more time just looking for what I want then actually putting stuff together. I know I have it but where...

So, I want to discuss storage and how to tackle it. I have heard some do it by color, some by theme. I want to know what YOU do. Please share and help me get started. It's still a managable project at this point in my digi life, but if I don't grab the bull by the horns NOW, it will be a nightmare.

I want specific details...how do you even start? Is it with folders? I am clueless. Do I need ANOTHER EHD just for this reason? Help!

Home

Well worth the time it took to drive to North Carolina for a day! We were only missing 2 people from the group. From Left to Right: Aunt Linda, Mom, Uncle Terry, Grandma, Uncle Jeff, Aunt Denise, Aunt Pat. Missing: Aunt Barb & Uncle Ray. This will probably be the last time the group will be together with Grandma at one time. Her health is failing fast. But it was great time!
EDIT: Took 9.5 hours going down and then 13 hours coming home but we slept for 2 hours in a rest area and we were coming from farther south on the drive home.

Binder Park Zoo

Petting Al with the Zoo Keeper.
Grandma Bonnie and the boys at the giraffe statue.
Zander getting kissed by the giraffe just like Daddy did last year! He says it's a family tradition and he wants his children to do the same. I do too, Zander, I do too! It's all about traditions and family, buddy...Always!

Aunt Amy Jo and the boys on the turtle statue. Weather was just perfect. We had the BEST time today. We got to go into the Turtle Cage! Which was very fitting for our family since my sister collects turtles. (hence the turtle pics last week at the zoo) It was so cool and the biggest one weighed in at over 750 lbs. Guess I won't complain about carrying around my own weight now! The big one was named Al and the littler one was called Speedy. It was so cool to watch them move and eat. We also had a blast with the monkeys today. They were very 'talkative' while we were there. They would imitate William and that would make us laugh even harder. This was my Mom's first visit to this zoo. I think she enjoyed it! We love going as you can tell. To any zoo!

More cards for swap

I got 6 more done for the swap. I am out of transparencies so I am at a stand still until tomorrow. I can get to the store tomorrow on my lunch hour, I hope.
We leave Thursday evening for North Carolina. Going down for a surprise party for our Uncle's 50th Bday! Coming back Sunday. So major fast trip! But wouldn't want to miss it. I think I will take my laptop as I did on trip to florida. I can hopefully get some layouts done during the 13 hour drive time!
Happy Birthday Shell!

Happy Birthday SHELL!

June 20th is her day but since she's a Kiwi, it's techinically her Bday now! Made a little something - something for you! Here you go! Love Ya Girly!

My first Photobook submission

card details

I had a couple ask me "how" so here is a break down.
The transparencies are just from walmart in the business section. I just cut them in half and folded them. Cut my cardstock and adhered it with the red sticky tape to the inside-back of the card. The stamps and rubons are on the outside front. Then I added a 2x2 piece of solid CS to the top of the Slumberparty print paper to use for signing the card. This is the back of the card. You can barely see the adhesive. I just put a little in each corner. (it's the double sided sticky tape)

Cards

Here's my cards I have done so far. I am not sure about the stamps. I used StazOn ink but it was so slippery that a couple of them are sorta a tad distorted. I added the little solid CS fold at the last minute. I thought we could use it as a place to sign the card without it showing. I am thinking they need some ribbon but not sure?? Any comments? If you don't think they will be well recieved, I won't make any more of this type. I just have been dying to try these transparency cards so I did. They are super fun to make but not sure if they are something anyone else would want?
I was trying to keep my costs low. My first idea was going to be too expensive to mass produce. I was going to add BLING to it but then after adding up the cost decided to go with the rub ons. Also thought about using the chips but was to lazy to want to cover them to make what I was thinking! LOL

Card swap

I started my cards tonight. Got 12 done. Not sure how I feel about them. The didn't come out exactly as I had hoped but I guess cute enough.

I need to by more transparencies to finish them up. I think I will make 20 and when they are gone they are gone. Last time I came home with more than I passed out! LOL oops....

I need to get my layouts printed that I want to submit for the contest also. I am on the fence as to what one I want to do. I have been saving one for just that reason that no one has seen yet. It's more funny than anything else. My sister is going to kill me for showing everyone this photo that I used on it! LOL But it just as humiliating for me as well! LOL hee hee....sorry...it really is funny!

Josh picked me up some of the thin stuff from hobby lobby. I am not impressed with this stuff either. It cuts so jagged. I need to figure out if I can sand it down. I really truly believe the only way to go it to buy the $30 album! But Ouch...if you make too many!

Grrr.....

Ok,...I am beginning to think that this whole making my own clear albums is for the birds...I hurt myself trying to use the crop a dile to punch the holes. Plus it was splitting them. So we took them down to my FIL and used the drill press on them...well the first one, again, worked great! BUT...the hole was smaller than I wanted it. So, I get the bright idea...let's just put in a bigger drill bit. WRONG! It broke them again. So out of 12 I have 4 left that are fine. GRR....

I need to find thinner acrylic/plexiglass. 1/8" is NOT working. I need 1/16". So Josh said he will hit hobby lobby for me tomorrow to see what they have. Bless his heart. I took some pictures of him doing my album! Let me post them!

Oh...and KH...I will save a card just for you!

Lowe's

Made my trip there tonight to hunt for the acrylic/plexiglass to "attempt" my own clear album. Well, I found a sheet of 18"x24" for under $9. It was .080 thick...thought it seemed heavier-thicker than the one I have at home. YEP...it was. I used my crop-a-dile to cut the holes in it and it worked like a charm on the first piece. But every piece after that would crack on me...grrr....I had the man at Lowe's cut my stuff for me too. So that was one less thing I had to do. So I am going to have Josh get out the drill tomorrow and see if he can cut my holes for me that way. I wanted to just play with it first before I played with the purchased album.

I bought some cute clear Swirls stamps tonight by Rhonna Farrer. (Autumn Leaves) They were $8.93 at WalMart. I DO NOT stamp but I could NOT pass these gems up. I love swirls and these will be perfect for my project for convention. I have something in mind that I hope looks as cute when completed as it does in my head!! LOL Card swap...here I come!

For Aunt Amy

The boys were thinking of you while at the zoo Wednesday. They had to have their pictures taken on the turtle statues for you! We need plan a Binder Park Trip Soon! My goal is for one road trip each week during summer break. Doesn't have to be far but I want to spend as much time with the boys as I can. This is my last year with William home! Gotta make it a good one!

Look what showed up today...

Forgot I ordered this! It's the new clear album from http://www.scrapbookframe.com/ I guess I didn't know they were a Canadian based company. I got an email last week sometime that said it had shipped and then I forgot about it since it too so long to get here! LOL I forget how much longer it takes to get packages outside the USA. I live less than 2 hours from the border but...
It comes with a protective coating on all pages- both sides. I took the first couple pages off but left the rest so that is why it has a cloudy look to it. They also threw in some samples of the new CHA sneek preview items!! They are really cool and can't wait to attempt this!
I was going to attempt to make my own but figured I would see what theirs looked like first. At this point it was worth the $30. I can't imagine taking the time to cut this up myself. But I just might have to give it a go for a certain persons gift!

Very Busy Weekend

Helped my Mom move Saturday and worked in the yard all day Sunday. I am sore, tired, and need one more day to rest! But...the calendar says Monday so it off to work I go.

I took my camera up with me to take pictures of us helping her move in and it never got out of the case. WHAT? How could I have forgotten that?? ME? So I will go back up this week and take some pictures to post. It's a really cute house with an even better yard! That's my favorite part of the whole place.

Hope you all had wonderful weekends. I know Jan, Shell, Wendy were busy also. Haven't heard a peep from my hero, Kyrstal Hartley. So that tells me that she is still designing her heart out for us! Bev's mom was ill this weekend so she was dealing with that. My sister was busy with me and painting. Elisa is probably getting ready for her trip and sewing her heart out to get those bags out before she leaves. The Ettes are probably working on last minute details of the new line.

I have an ElisaLou party tomorrow night. Guess that means I will have to order on for myself! LOL That's always my excuse. I have to order when I can!

Back to work, just home for lunch. Had a few cancellations in the schedule today. Must be the weather. I'm the last one they want to see on such a beautiful day!

Good-byes

I can't say as though I have ever met a more passionate teacher in my life. Miss Corner is one of those who touch you at your core. We are so blessed to have been in her class and I will never forget this year. We love you Miss Corner!

Field Day 2007

Here's some photos...

Brr...chilly

So, I really do live in the great state of Michigan! It's now 47 degrees outside. Wasn't it last week I was complaining how hot it was?? See...if you don't like the weather we are having just wait it will change.

Today is "field day" at the school! I lived for this day when I was in school. They stay outside and run races, play games, picnic all day! I have to finish the year end books with today and then I am heading outside with my camera to capture the fun!

Will post photos later tonight.

My Girl

Here's a picture of my baby girl. She is in desperate need of a trim but I had to share this sweetness with you today. It makes me smile so maybe it will do the same for you today!

My co-worker is in the process of becoming a grandma today! I am so excited for her! I can't wait to get that phone call. They went in at 3am. She's having a boy, they say. I hope to be able to make it to the hospital tonight to take some pictures of them together. I did her wedding and now I will do her first born! It's so fun to watch these couples become parents!

Ok day

Sold just over $400 today. Even split of TLC vs. SBG. Sold one LT to a wonderful gentleman who is designing yearbooks for his elementary school...HELLO....LIGHTBULB MOMENT! Mental note...work up a sample of a 'mock' yearbook to show the PTA for a fundraiser at the school.

Why did I NOT think of this?? He was just the nicest man but didn't want to be a consultant!

So it's back tomorrow for another round.

Off to a TLC event

I am leaving in the morning for a two day crop. I don't expect much out of it. One I did of hers had ONE cropper register. But they open it for shoppers too...but still. I am not going to happy if that happens again. It's not worth my time.

Josh's Grandma is in the hospital with heart troubles. She is still in ICU. I worry about her. I would hate to be gone this weekend and have something happen. I told Josh to CALL ME ASAP if he hears anything. I can be home in 2.5 hours. Doesn't it seem like it is always something with my family? Gosh...
